About this watch

Gaining its name by virtue of the fact that Honor Blackman wore the same reference in the James bond Goldfinger film The GMT master was originally produced for the Pam Am pilots and although a firm favourite in the Rolex line up for decades the original reference 6542 was only in production for a brief time from 1954 until 1959.

This example dates from 1958 and has come directly  from the estate of its one original owner and although used regularly over the last 60 years it has survived in remarkable condition  and even more remarkably still has the complete and unrestored Bakelite bezel intact ,as you can see and would expect the bezel shows some damage but importantly it is intact and stable and under a Geiger counter the reading is as you would expect for an original watch of this period .

Along with the original bezel the original gilt dial is simply stunning and again has survived in amazing condition.

The cal 1035 movement is again original and performs as it should and still has the desirable roulette date wheel.

The watch is fitted to a slightly later perfect condition 6635 stretch rivet bracelet which will fit even the larger wrist sizes

This is a rare opportunity to purchase an iconic sports Rolex from the 1950’s in original condition, a watch suitable for any serious collection.
