About this watch

The Breitling Navitimer is impressive, the most notable feature is the slide rule bezel, or mechanical flight calculator. This feature was developed before the invention of digital instruments and served as a means for calculating valuable information while in flight, such as climbing speeds, fuel consumption, and flight times. Even decades after coming to market, the Breitling Navitimer remains the go-to watch for many modern pilots.

This particular example is the reference 1806, A chronograph wristwatch c.1970.

The watch is hard to find as it was Issued to Iraqi Military Air Force during the 1970's and bears the military markings on the case back.

The dial is exclusive to the pieces issued to the Iraqi air force as it is decorated with the wings used in their own emblem not the Breitling wings you will normally see,

The 42 mm stainless steel case houses the Calibre 12 movement (based on a Buren 1282), which was arguably the first ever chronograph movement to become automatic, then part of a space-race style endeavor to achieve this status.

Although a large watch with its chunky octagonal case with chronograph pushers at 2 and 4 O’clock and Left-handed crown it wears very comfortably.

This example also benefits from being fitted to the original and very rare Brietling bracelet
