About this watch

The Omega ‘PloProf’ is one of the most iconic diver’s watches ever made and one of the most recognizable because of the ‘big red button’ which is used to unlock the bezel. Introduced in 1969/70 it was the most advanced divers watch in the world, targeted specifically at Professional divers it was an instant success and was adopted world wide, including by the famous diver Jacques Cousteau. The best depth ratings achieved by Omega before then were 300M, this achieved 600M due to the radical design of the one-piece front loading case.

The watch was released in numerous iterations, this is the rarest of them, the ‘C’ case, denoted by the shape of crown guard and benefits from its correct and original tritium bezel. So many of these watches had the bezel and movement replaced at service, this example retains both original items. The original and correct 33 million serial number movement is running extremely well and is original to the watch. The dial and hands are older service replacements, which are extremely rare in themselves and are part of a tiny batch produced by Omega in Germany and used as service parts some years ago, there have only been one or two examples come to market in the last few years. Original dials are readily available, but we chose to retain the fitted dial as part of the watches history and due to the rarity of the dial and the stunning combination and patina of the dial and hands.

The watch is presented with a new Isofrane style black rubber band and its original and very rare original and full size (up to 9 inch) 1161 PloProf bracelet, it has also had a recent, genuine and NOS Omega crystal.

This is a stunning example and without doubt one of the best on the market and is both a wearable divers watch and a great future investment.
