Rolex Air King Ref 5500

The Rolex Air king was first introduced in 1945 and remained relatively unchanged for over 40 years ,It was originally aimed at RAF pilots who found the simple design and robust mechanical movement ideal for them .The 34 mm case size was also considered lager in that era

This particular example is in remarkable condition ,no doubt helped by the fact that the watch was sent back to Rolex in November 2018 and so is fully guaranteed by Rolex ,Fortunately during the service the dial hands ect were left untouched so this piece gives you the fantastic combination of complete reliability along with pure vintage appeal .

The dial is a wonderful warm coffee cream colour decorated with 3,6, 9 Arabic numerals. Original sword shaped hands and steel blue’d seconds hand
