From one of Switzerland's most respected factories comes this Solid 9ct gold gents 34 mm watch on a solid 9ct gold bracelet dated 1954.
This piece is especially rare due to the fact the case is made in England by Shackleton
You may notice that the dial is not stamped shaufhaussen under the IWC brand this is due to the fact that the watch was assembled in the UK as was the norm at the time and not in IWC'S home town hence the missing town name ,which to many collectors makes this piece even more desirable
The heavy solid gold bracelet is exquisitely made and completely undamaged , Hallmarked and inscribed Hickleton & Phillips, in whose original box the watch is still kept. Which in itself is testimony as to how cherished this watch was by its previous owner Mr Fred W Robinson ,
I know some collectors polish out engravings on the rear of cases ,not me I love the story they tell, sometimes gifts between loved ones often at a time of war or as is the case here a gift to a cherished respected colleague as recognition for a loyalty sadly not often seen today
Technically IWC produced some of the worlds best movements and this ranks amongst the very best the calibre 89 world famous for being used by the RAF in the superb masterpiece the mark eleven pilots watch . This beautiful manual wind Movement number 1297415 from over 50 years ago is no exception and is original to the piece as is everything else
Truly a fine vintage watch and a great addition to any collection
