IWC introduced the Ingenieur in 1955 ,the literal translation is engineer and like the Rolex Millgaus and Omega railmaster these are watches with some serious strengths and perfect for the engineers and scientists of the period although IWC also saw this watch as the perfect product for the civilians of the day whereas the famous cal 89 was aimed at the military with great success. As a high end watch for the man on the street IWC designed the Ingenieur not just to perform brilliantly but also to look superb and today this classic look is highly desirable and the 36.5 mm case size wears very well
This fantastic example in mint condition from 1961/62 has the highly prized combination of pie pan dial with silver baton hour markers with Dauphine hands along with the original luminous dots all still intact.
The cal 8531 is housed in the antimagnetic soft iron inner casing and the movement was completely overhauled by an IWC approved vintage specialist in the USA in December 2019
This is a superb all original example of a highly collectable vintage watch that when compared to its counterparts remains very affordable.
