Jaeger LeCoultre 6B 346 MK11 All White

For many military watch collectors the JLC MK11 is a grail watch ,only 2950 pieces were ever produced over a short space of a few years and only the first batch of a few hundred had the all-white or white 12 dial ,how many examples are left in the world today no one knows but most collectors estimate the number at less than 100 and given that the JLC Mk11 is also regarded by many as the finest military watch ever made  I am delighted to have a superb example to offer you today.

The Mk11 issued to the Royal Airforce was designed to meet the challenges of modern aviation where timing and accuracy were vital and the RAF put forward a stringent criteria to the two chosen manufacturers ,IWC and JLC ,whilst the IWC MK11 movement the cal 89 was produced in many tens of thousands of civilian watches by contrast the entire movement in the JLC was only used in this short run making the chronometer grade cal 488/SBr extremely desirable and such was the merits of the movement it went on to be the foundation of one of the highest regarded manual wound chronometers ever produced.

This particular example of the JLC 6B 346 has been in a private collection for many years and its condition is superb and I can personally verify the time keeping is a good as the day it was made with a great power reserve so even though the watch is 75 years old I would have no hesitation wearing daily and I think the chances of seeing anyone else wearing the same watch are as close to zero as you can get.

The watch is correctly signed on case back and movement with the correct serial number engraved on its movement which corresponds with the first batch of 500 watches delivered to the RAF in 1948, it even has the original movement cover, I can forgive whoever changed the crown in the past although I am sure a more suitable one could be found.

The 35mm stainless steel case shows very little wear and is fitted to a simple black leather strap.
