This rare 1969 Omega Seamaster 60 meter divers watch is one of the hidden gems in Omegas extensive archive of amazing vintage pieces. These watches have risen in value dramatically over the last five years, primarily because they are so close in design and appeal to the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms and other period divers and because they are build to such an incredible quality.
The Seamaster 60 was introduced as a sports divers watch but was priced very close to the Seamaster 300 and later the Seamaster PloProf and therefore didn’t sell originally in huge numbers, as such it is becoming and increasingly rare watch now. It differs from many watches of the period as it has a large screw down crown, which was an oddity of the period.
The stunning electric blue dial and bezel really set the watch apart from the crown and the substantial 37mm (excluding the crown) case dimensions make it extremely wearable. The watch wears a Bakelite bezel (again rare for Omega of the period with the exception of the SM300). The watch is really beautiful, the combination of colour and bezel mixed with the stunning racing dual tone dial make it simply a must have piece in any collection.
The watch has been full serviced and overhauled and has its original Omega/ JB champion bracelet, which again was unique to these watches. The watch inside and out from the caliber 565 movement to the sharp edges of the case shows virtually no wear. An absolute must have piece that will not only continue to increase in value but gives all the heritage of both vintage and modern Omega divers watches.
