About this watch

Rare can be a very over used word in the world of watch collecting ,however I feel completely justified in its use for this item ,it is believed this was a unique piece made in the 1950’s and it must have been produced for either a director of the company or a very special client ,the workmanship is exquisite and it has survived the last 70 years in remarkable condition ,obviously the dial is the standout feature of this piece although the 30mm x 38mm 18ct gold case is special in its own right it’s substantial construction is required to hold both the automatic movement and the hand finished dial which requires the case to have extra depth due to curved construction

The production of intricate dials like this is an extremely specialized technique involving many lengthy procedures and every step many dials were destroyed making the procedure possibly the most demanding manufacturing process in watchmaking.

The dial produced is completely unique, I am sure the subject matter on this piece being two Koi carps under lily pads will have great appeal to both Cloisonné enthusiast and Koi carp collectors or breeders its also worth noting that although examples by prestigious houses such as Patek, Rolex and Audemars are seen regularly with prices reaching well into six figures I have not been able to find any other example manufactured by Eterna.

The movement used is an in-house automatic movement which runs well.

It should be noted that as seen on our images the dial has several visible cracks although it is intact and the colours are vibrant in particular the green lily pads have an iridescence that reflects in sunlight.

The watch is fitted to a generic padded crocodile skin brown strap.

This piece is in stock and ready for worldwide shipping.
