About this watch

I always delighted to be able to offer great pieces that are not only superb examples but also offer something a little special and this Explorer 14270 is just that, at first glance it would appear to be just another nice example of a very wearable and popular 36mm Explorer, however it has a unique configuration hiding in plain sight. Only in production for a few months at the end of 1998 as you will be able to see the dial carries the markings T Swiss T<25 which were used to demonstrate tritium luminescent material in the hour markers however 1998 saw this material replaced with Luminova as on this dial, it has become general opinion amongst collectors that Rolex had already produced the dials and by mistake carried the production run adding Luminova to the hour markers which should only be seen on the later Swiss only and Swiss made dials .

As with all collectible pieces scarcity adds value and yet these great watches are still largely below the radar making this not only a lovely piece but also a great potential investment for the future.

The watch comes complete with Rolex Papers dated October 1998 and showing the serial number as U712XXX

Mechanically the watch runs on the later cal 3000 automatic movement which has been recently serviced and is covered by our 12months mechanical warranty.
