Considering the 5512 was in production for around 20 years it’s a surprising hard reference to find in any condition and good examples like this piece from 1967 are getting scarcer all the time.
This hard-to-find Submariner 5512 dates to 1967 as confirmed by the inner case back dated 11/67 and correct 1.55 million serial number which makes it among the very first 5512 to appear on a matt dial
The original matt dial with tritium hour markers is in superb condition and the colour of the lume needs to be seen in daylight to truly appreciate it's coffee cream tones and the appearance of the watch is further enhanced by the original tritium pip on the bezel matching the dial perfectly.
The cal 1570 movement is all correct and keeps perfect time having been recently serviced and carries our 12-month guarantee.
The Oyster bracelet is an original USA stamped folded steel date stamped 1972,the watch arrived with me having been worn daily and as such shows light wear which I havent had polished or restored in anyway as I like the honesty of the watch.
Great examples of the 5512 are so hard to find and having an exceptional piece like this is a real treat and I do hope the next owner appreciates just what a special watch this is. After all, if a 5512 was good enough to be the choice of watch for the great Steve McQueen then its definitely good enough for me
