Only produced for a brief period this is an exceptionally hard to find Submariner in any condition, but this example will be one of the best available and a great addition to any collection and yet still a watch that can be worn daily.
This early 5513 has all the following characteristics only found in this short production run
- Underline dial ,showing a silver line under the word submariner
- Swiss-only dials: "SWISS" inscription at 6 o'clock,
- Gilt gloss dial
- PCG (pointed crown guards) case
-Serial numbers in the correct range for 1963
The silver underline marking seen under the word Submariner was used to denote the use of tritium on the dial rather than the harmful radium and before the more commonly seen addition of the t<25 markings
This example has all serial numbers still clearly visible and has the inner case back stamped correctly for 1963
Under blue light all lume shines the same
The cal 1530 movement is again correctly stamped and running exactly as it should
The 40mm stainless steel case is still fitted to a simple understated NATO strap
This is a very special Submariner that I can honestly say is hard for me to part with
