About this watch

To be honest my photographer has mocked me this week as I have marvelled over this piece ,although to be fair its not the first time he has been puzzled by my enthusiasm over “old watches “but most of the time they can be of significant values so he allows my rantings ,This Jaeger though delights me for exactly the reason that its not tens of thousands of pounds ,nor is it huge or even solid precious metal ,what it is to me though is a beautiful example of what it was meant to be .

In the early 1950’s when this wrist alarm watch was produced 33mm was considered the standard size for a wristwatch although to be fair this is given extra wrist presence due to this impressive tear drop lugs, The yellow gold filled case is in excellent condition although stylishly engraved by its proud previous owner.

The dial has a unique two-tone finish and barring an age spot at the seven hour this original dial has survived in stunning condition and is among the nicest examples I have ever seen, the gold hour markers and inner circle corresponding gold dots have3 all survived intact.

This model predates the latter memovox alarm watches produced by Jaeger Le Coultre although it functions in the same manner, the alarm is set by rotating the inner disc to the required time and when the outer hands reach the appointed time the alarm buzzes. All this in an age before anyone had even thought of an I phone !

The watch comes fitted to a new black high quality Hirsh strap
