Omega have made some of the most famous dive watches of all time over the latter part of the 20th Century, including the remarkable PloProf.
Amongst their achievements was the Seamaster 200 series, a range of watches intended as professional divers watch and was so successful that various iterations where adopted by military forces across the globe.
What makes this watch special is was developed specifically at the request of the French Navy, specifically "Service hydrographique de la Marine Française”, who adopted both iterations of this watch, the yellow dial and the much rare grey dial AKA the Poppy also distinctive for its two tone black and red bezel and chunky 40mm case.
Although not initially available on general release Omega then made the watch commercially available, although in relatively small number and as such they are now quite rare and this grey dial variant is extremely rare.
The watch is original, the dial is showing some light age-related patina/ spotting evenly across the dial surface, with matching original hands. The bezel is near flawless, and the case is extremely crisp and never refinished or restored. The automatic cal 565 movement looks like new
