MOD specification for the chronographs supplied by Hamilton ,Precista, CWC and Newmark ensured that all four manufactures used the manual winding Valjoux 7733 movement along with identical dial layout and case size. Its not uncommon that when these working watches went into the MOD stores the watchmakers would use the interchangeable spares regardless of manufacturer which is exactly what has happened with this piece ,what makes this more interesting is that the storesman has inadvertently used a case back from 1970 ,probably off a Hamilton from 1970 .I have to confess this was pointed out to me by a keen eyed collector who reminded me that CWC didn't in fact start in business until 1972 ! I stress this is not uncommon and doesnt detract from this great military chronograph.
The 38.5mm stainless steel case is in great condition and the case back retains all the correct markings as does the immaculate dial.
The watch is fitted to a high-quality brown leather strap which works very well with it.
