About this watch

This is possibly the most unknown and under appreciated of the Blancpain Bathyscaphe watches ever made. Many people are familiar with the famous ‘Waltham Paul Newman’, manufactured by Blancpain for Waltham watches and worn by Paul Newman in the film Harper, or the LIP Blancpain series. Virtually unknown to many is that they also produced watches for Moeris, and others, amongst these was a very small run of stainless steel (the far more desirable version) Bathyscaphes branded as Marc Nicolet.

This example is in near perfect condition, the stainless steel case with Bakelite bezel is virtually flawless and never refinished, the dial and hands are original Radium and whilst showing some slight signs of age are in simply remarkable condition. The watch has been fully serviced and overhauled and retains its original and flawless Automatic 24 jewel movement. The watch is 34 mm excluding the crown and wears extremely well, the watch is also presented on original tropic band, which like the watch is in remarkable and original condition and is super supple.

Blancpain Bathyscaphe watches are increasing in value rapidly, an average Blancpain branded model sells currently for between £5000 and £8000, this is far rarer and represents a remarkable investment opportunity for a watch that is without doubt going to rise rapidly in value.
