About this watch

Ok so I know its a long title ! but as with many things in life the devil is in the detail and its the detail in the title that give some clues to the scarcity of this great watch from 1961.This is the first generation of one of the most highly rated and yet possibly most undervalued chronographs of the sixties .

Nivada are a watch manufacturer who in their hey day rivalled Rolex ,Jaeger le Coultre and any other “top brand ” for adventurers watches. This was proven by the fact that whilst Rolex was heading up Everest and Jaeger boarded the USS Nautilus nuclear submarine on its journey under the North Pole, Nivada made the watch that accompanied the expedition to explore the Antarctic in 1957 .

The first generation watches are distinguished by the fact they are named chronograph and not chronomaster as with all subsequent variants and run off the highly regarded mechanically wound Venus 210 movement rather than the later Valjoux movements

The 38mm stainless steel case is in great original shape and although no safe queen retains all its crisp edges and nice even lugs, and like the rest of the watch is all original

For someone looking to add a great early sixties sports chronograph to there collection this is an ideal candidate with real pedigree and wont break the bank
