The Benrus 3061 is the civilian version of the U.S Military issued MIL-W-46374 watch which was mainly issued to soldiers in the Vietnam war unlike its military counterpart the 3061 features a seconds hand with the red arrow tip, the polished case and the case back having the Benrus logo on the back as opposed to a military stamped code. Movements however were both exactly the same, These facts are interesting in their own right and it’s a great watch to wear but for many what makes this piece special is that its exactly the watch worn by the king of cool himself Mr Steve McQueen in the epic film Bullitt
Let’s be honest most watches worn by our heroes in classic films are seen with unattainable prices so it’s great that Benrus 3061 remains somewhat under the radar, but if you know you know and you can still grab a great watch with a fantastic back story for the price of a mass produced modern trinket.
The 3061 wears very well and the 33mm stainless case seems larger on the wrist but it easily glides under a shirt cuff due the ultra slim case design.
The manual wind movement keeps great time and carries our 12-month guarantee.
The watch is presented on a black rally style strap with reverse stitching which works well with the aged dial.
