At first glance this Autavia 1163 MH may appear to be the same as any other of the Viceroy promotion run of Heuer chronographs from the early 1970’s and whilst identical in many ways It is a very special watch not just as the outstanding condition makes it by far the best I have seen ,the 42 mm stainless case still bears the original brushed finish and the underside of the case is knife edge sharp testimony that it’s never been polished.
This stunning example also bears the original and very scarce minute and hours bezel and as you can see this bezel also bears the distinguishing pip inside the polished triangle marker a feature normally reserved for the 1163 that was retailed through the official Heuer agents for $200.00 whilst the Viceroy promotion watches were available at the hugely discounted price of $88.00 and a cigarette packet top .
If anyone reading this is an Omega fan take a look at the recently released Speedmaster Ultraman the colour scheme bears a striking resemblance to these great watches in my opinion.
These watches give you the best of both worlds undoubtedly a cool vintage chronograph with real sporting pedigree and a thoroughly modern 42 mm stainless steel case and the added convenience of an automatic chronograph movement what more could you wish for
The condition of this 45-year-old watch is outstanding and a worthy addition to any collection
This piece is fitted to a very complimentary Rally strap and has its original Heuer box
These watches wear exceptionally well and are sure to spark interest whenever you wear one
