Needing little introduction to vintage watch fans the brand Heuer was most famous for its connections to motor sport less well known is its aviation heritage ,In fact the name Autavia came from the combination of the words Aviation and Automobile.
The GMT model of the Autavia range were aimed at the traveler or pilots of the 1960's and seventies just as the GMT Rolex and Flightmaster Omega were.
This stunning example comes complete with correctly filled out papers dated 1974 and original box making it the most complete set we have seen for a very long time .The 42 mm stainless steel case retains all its crisp edges and shows little sign of ever being polished, and is a perfect complement for the flawless dial. The Pepsi dial has achieved the desirable "ghost" to the upper part which adds to the vintage appeal of this authentic piece ,its also worth noting that the bezel also has the less common luminous pip at 12.00 o'clock.
The case is clearly engraved 1163 and the serial number matches the filled out papers
The Heuer signed caliber 14 movement was a revolution when first release for being the first automatic chronograph available .
This stunning piece is fitted to a NOS Corfam strap although I do have available a NOS Guy Freres Heuer beads of rice bracelet if required by separate negotiation.
