About this watch

Omega Automatic calibre 28.10 ‘bumper’

This is a truly ground breaking watch for one very special reason, it was the first production Omega Automatic watch ever made. The calibre 28.10 launched in September 1943 just four months after the calibre 30.10, the designations been around the size of the movements.

The watch was a remarkable piece of watch making were conceived by Charles Perregaux and were not only revolutionary being self winding but also operated at a higher frequency of previous watches, giving improved accuracy. These watches had a power reserve of 42 hours when fully wound and could be wound both manually or when worn.

The design of the ‘bumper’ movement (with an oscillating weight moving between two springs, hence the name bumper).

This example dates to around 1944, the stainless steel case has a screw back (very rare for the period) and has a military style dial with luminous markers and hands. The dial is totally original (unlike so so many), although it shows some light patina this only adds to the pieces uniqueness and individuality.

This is a rare opportunity to own one of the first automatic watches ever made by Omega, there are very few original and unmolested examples left out there and even fewer with this military style dial configuration with screw back case.

Completely original the dial and case show age related wear
