This absolutely stunning Omega De Ville is one of the rarest of the Omega chronographs, produced for a very short period of time between 1968 and 1971, this example dates from 1969 which would also make it a superb 50th birthday gift for someone special ,even if that is your self !
The 36mm (excluding crown) straight lug case is solid stainless steel and retains its original all polished finish, the case back is in excellent original condition and overall the watch shows very little signs of use. It is presented on a period (triple lock) Milanese bracelet which will fit up to an 8 ½ in wrist.
The stand out feature of the watch is the stunning black dial with applied steel markers, it really is beautiful and in pristine and unrestored condition. The watch is reference 145.17 and features a rare twin register calibre 860 movement, almost identical to the calibre 861 that went in the 69 moon watch but with two register chronograph not three.
This watch was intended as a driver, sportsman’s chronograph and was designed as such, robust and utilitarian whilst retaining all the quality and style you would expect of any period Omega. It really is a stand out piece, the first one of its kind we have had in stock for a long time and the best example you will find for sale.
