The Omega Seamaster reference 145.008 was released around 1969 sporting a substantial 41mm stainless steel case and inner rotating bezel, of the three variants of this model the120 m divers variant was the last and least common,
The example we have here is completely original including the omega symbol on the crystal, the dial is flawless, and the tritium has aged nicely, the stainless-steel case still retains the original finish and is in remarkable condition. The original Chronostop hand has aged to a nice orange
The movement is the cal 865 which is a very close relative of the cal 861 which powered the famous Speedmaster range ,although the Chronostop doesn’t reach the lofty heights of the Speedmaster price wise at the time of its launch this was a special watch and won many industry awards ,The high beat movements were only ever seen in this range.
The inner minute rotating bezel is operated by the signed crown at 10 and rotates freely and the Chronostop timing function is operated by the correctly unsigned crown at 2 and again this functions exactly as it should .The remaning signed crown at 4 is used to set the time and to wind the manual winding movement.
These watches have great wrist presence and I still think that currently they are undervalued although that’s changing quickly.
