The Speedmaster is one of the most icon watches ever made and one of the most historic watches of the 20th century, being issued to NASA and worn by all astronauts right up until today.
This is one of the rarer executions of the famous ‘moonwatch’, the 145.012-67, it was the first of the now famous case design, which differed from the first Speedmaster by the addition of pusher and crown guards. This particular example dates from Circa 1967 and was released along side the famous ‘Ed White’ Speedmaster, ultimately this models popularity saw it and later models replacing the ‘Ed White’
This example is simply stunning, the original applied logo stepped dial is superb with gorgeous luminous material and has a remarkable patina. The movement is Omega’s famous 321 movement, correct and original to the watch and in perfect original condition. The watch benefits from the original Dot Over Ninety bezel, which is in superb original condition and the case is super sharp and very clean, if it has been refinished its only been done maybe once in it’s life time.
Without doubt this is one of the nicest examples of this icon watch we have ever seen and being one of the rarer executions it is a sure fire investment opportunity for the budding collector.
I sent this watch for a service to Simon Freese who many fellow collectors recognize as the top UK vintage Omega specialist ,and Simon being the top bloke he is sent it back telling me not to waste my money as it runs and functions fine ,a note to this effect will be included in the sale .
I fitted this to a new top quality Bulang and Son black leather strap
