About this watch

Before I tell you about this watch let me first list for you what accompanies it ,

1) Original suppliers guarantee dated 23/12/1970
2) Omega International guarantee booklet left blank
3) You and your Omega booklet
4) Correct red plastic wallet for booklets
5) Omega hang tags ,marked 861
6) Service receipt from Swiss time services (omega UK) for full service dated august 2015
7 Omega inner box
8) Omega card outer box

I list these as I think its important to understand what a fantastic opportunity this piece actually represents.

As for the watch itself its a very good example of a "transitional "Speedmaster from the period at the end of the 1960's when the improved cal 861 movement replaced the cal 321 believed to have started with case reference 145022-68 ,however the case back still has the original engraving "Speedmaster" the engraving "Flight qualified by NASA for all manned space missions" came in with the case ref 145022-70

The result of the above is that relativity very few examples of this model with  cal 861 movement and speedmaster engraved cases exist compared to the later cal 861 with the "Flight qualified by NASA for all manned space missions" case engraving which ran from 1971 for decades.

Fitted to an original full size 1171/1 stainless steel bracelet although I am happy to fit a leather strap as seems to be very fashionable now .
