The new reference 18038 was first seen in 1978 and was the foundation for what we now accept as the modern Day Date, with it came the introduction of sapphire crystal and the much improved cal 3055 movement which bought with it the simple to use quick set date mechanism; even the bracelet was improved with the standardisation of the concealed clasp, a feature still seen today.
This stunning example is in remarkable condition, the 36mm solid 18ct gold case remains crisp and has good definition to all lugs ,showing no signs of being badly polished in the past as so many other examples have been and the president bracelet is in equally fine condition remaining tight with very little stretch all this makes for a very nice example of this timeless classic however its the very seldom seen stunning black jubilee dial with 18ct gold raised Roman numeral hour markers that elevates it to another level entirely.
The watch is presented in an original vintage box ,along with Rolex oyster booklet and Rolex day date booklet and both Rolex tags .
The serial number dates this piece to 1979 ,however I guarantee this watch defies that date and would pass as almost new .
