With prices for vintage Rolex sports watches seemingly increasing daily it’s great to find a watch that I believe still offers exceptional value for money although for how long that remains I don’t know so my advice would be if you are looking for a true vintage Rolex sports watch that won’t break the bank then give this Rolex Explorer from the mid 1960’s some serious thought.
The black matt dial features the instantly recognizable 3, 6, and 9 Arabic numerals, in addition to the stick indexes and the inverted triangle. Hopefully our images show the stunning colour of the tritium. The other features instantly recognizable are the Mercedes hands characteristic of the Explorer collection, as well as the “lollipop” seconds hand. The T<25 marking below six o’clock indicates that the dial uses tritium for luminescence.
The 34 mm stainless steel case is still crisp and wears well although obviously no safe queen this is a watch that was used but remains in excellent condition. The case back is engraved with a personal message illustrating that the watch was a treasured gift to its previous owner.
