About this watch

Only produced for a brief period in 1963/64 this is an exceptionally hard to find Submariner in any condition, but the case on this example will be one of the best available and a great addition to any collection and yet still a watch that can be worn daily.

This early 5513 has all the following characteristics only found in this short production run of around 1 year

- Serial numbers in the 9 xx xxx. range ,the serial number of this example is desirable in its own right 9999XX .This example has all serial numbers still clearly visible
- PCG (pointed crown guards) case

The watch runs on the cal 1530 26 jewel movement which was a leap forward for Rolex when initially introduced in 1957 ,although initially only with 17 jewels it was the later improved executions that carried the 26 ,The 1530 is still regarded by many as one of the best movement Rolex ever made.

The 40mm stainless steel case is in stunning condition and works well with the high quality alligator strap its fitted to which is finished with a genuine Rolex stainless steel buckle

The watch comes direct from the family of its one and only owner and complete with 3 sets of Rolex service papers ,it has been maintained impeccably throughout its life although sadly at some point in the past the dial has been changed although I have to say the bicherini dial in it now is a great match and the tritium has developed to a wonderful coffee cream colour.

If it wasn’t for the dial change this watch would retail for more than £30,000 so I think its probably the best value pointed crown guard Sub available anywhere in the world today
