Possibly one of the best looking vintage chronographs we have had arrive for a while ,The Zenith CP2 supplied by A. Cairelli to the Italian air force is a very rare beast ,in all 2500 were supplied to the retailer Cairelli during the 1960’s and of those around 200 were supplied to various departments of the Italian military ,This example was issued to the Air force and is correctly marked and all original.
The stainless steel case measures 43 mm but wears very well as it is quite slim on the wrist. As you can see the aluminium bezel has faded to a unique pale grey or “Ghost “ bezel ,a highly prized feature.
The cal 146 DP is a manually wound chronograph movement originally designed by the Martel watch company that Zenith had bought out in 1959 and zenith was to use the expertise in Martell to assist in the development of the famous El Primero movements.
I should mention that these excellent pieces have been attracting much attention recently ,for two reasons the launch of the modern tribute watch by Zenith and also the astounding sale by auction at Phillips recently where an example sold for 62,500 Swiss francs ,my suggestion is be quick these are to find and a sure fire investment for the future whilst also being very cool to wear.
The watch is fitted to a later black leather strap and is in stock ready for worldwide shipping
