First introduced in 1967 as a screw back case the Heuer Autavia GMT soon moved to the Compressor case back designed by ESPA and famous for their ingenious design which meant the waterproofing of the case was caused by the actual pressure of the water.
This is the Second variant of the 2446C which dates to around 1970 and actually overlapped production with the earliest automatic GMT’s which due to the thicker movement had far bulkier cases than the much more sought after manual winding predecessors.
The second execution is easily recognizable due to the slightly larger sub dials and steel matchstick hands with red tips and stripe and red chronograph hand.
The movement is the Valjoux 724 manual winding and has been recently fully overhauled and performs exactly as it should, It also carries our full 12 month mechanical warranty
The 40mm stainless steel case is in superb original condition and is fitted to a new quality black leather strap.
This is a superb manual winding chronograph form the golden era, perfect to wear every day and a potential great investment.
