I am always thrilled to offer my clients great examples of a desirable piece and for fans of the brand Heuer this watch will need little introduction
Whilst most famous for its connections to motor sport in the sixties and seventies Heuer also had strong ties to the aviation world., In fact the name Autavia came from the combination of the words Aviation and Automobile.
The GMT model of the Autavia range were aimed at the traveler or pilots of the 1960's and seventies just as the GMT Rolex and Flightmaster Omega were.
This stunning example comes complete with correctly filled out papers dated 1974 and original box making it the most complete set we have seen for a very long time .The 42 mm stainless steel case retains all its crisp edges and shows little sign of ever being polished, and is a perfect complement for the flawless dial with correct hands ,the coloring of the lume is wonderful.
The Pepsi bezel retains both colours although the upper has faded nicely although still clearly retains it numbers and colour. The case is clearly engraved 1163 and the serial number matches the filled out papers
The Heuer signed calibre 14 movement was a revolution when first release for being the first automatic chronograph available and all works as it should
This stunning piece is fitted to a correct NOS Guy Freres Heuer beads of rice bracelet and in my opinion is one of the most complete sets available anywhere today offering the serious collector a great opportunity
