This is probably the most instantly recognizable classic Jaeger Le Coultre wristwatch, but I wonder how owners of the classic Reverso know the fascinating history behind this unique watch.
The actual patent for the case design was completed by LeCoultre in 1931 and it was the result of a request by Polo players passed to Jaques David LeCoultre to design a watch that could be worn and protected whilst they played their vigorous sport. A simple solution would have been to use a protective cage as used on earlier world war one timepieces but that would have ruined the aesthetics of any watch, so the solution was a watch that is able to slide out of its frame and turn around completely and so protect the fragile glass etc.
This example takes the watch to another level and is definitely not designed for wearing whilst playing polo.
The Duo date has two different watch dials giving you literally two watches for the price of one, the first silver dial with Arabic numerals has a small second dial at 6O’clock and the date window at 12 whilst the reverse dial is black with Arabic numbers at 3,9 and 12 and a day night indicator with dual time zone display at 6 O’clock.
As with most Reverso watches the movement is an in-house manual wind and runs perfectly.
The watch is fitted to an original JLC black Alligator strap completed with an original JLC deployment clasp and comes complete with its original box and JLC papers dated 2014
