This is a very rare and increasingly valuable divers watch manufactured by the famous French watch house LIP. LIP had a long standing collaboration with Blancpain in the 1960’s and early 1970’s and whilst not branded as Blancpain this watch has all the characteristics and build quality of their watches.
The value of LIP watches has skyrocketed in the last few years and non more so than the divers examples, LIP Blancpains which could have been bought for less than £1000 a couple of years ago are now worth more than £5000 and values continue to rise.
This 37 mm stainless steel LIP diver is a true classic and in our opinion is not only a sound investment for the future but a genuinely wearable divers watch, bearing all the characteristics of the famous ‘Bond’ Rolex for a fraction of the price but with all the credibility and build quality.
The watch runs on the automatic eta 2472 movement which was a movement used by many top houses form the late sixties.
The watch is in time warp condition, there is no other way to describe it, the watch dates to circa 1968 and includes all the traditional dive traits from the period, including the lollipop second hand. The dial is high gloss with super honey patina markers and matching hour and minute hands.
It really is a gem of a watch, everything you could want from a divers watch of the 1960’s but in a condition which could be mistaken for being nearly new, an ideal investment and a true classic of design.
