Jaeger Telephone Dial Chronograph cal 285

This excellent Jaeger chronograph dates to the 1940’s and its in great original condition especially when you consider its around 75 years old and still working perfectly.

Jaeger Le Coultre is one of Switzerland’s finest manufactures although earlier this century it was largely just the watches sent to the USA market that bore the full title hence its great to find and original badged Jaeger chronograph from that post war era. It was also during this period that Jaeger earned themselves a reputation for producing fine chronographs although it wasn’t until a few years later that they manufactured their own movements, so this superb piece was manufactured using the highly regarded Universal Genève manual wound cal 285 movement badged Jaeger.

The term telephone dial was in fact no accident but a result of the fact that at this point in time phone calls were billed at three-minute intervals (any one singing Silvia's mother said by Dr Hook!) and on this dial configuration the minute register has three extended markers indicating the elapsed time at 3,6 and 9 minutes.

The stainless-steel case is like the rest of the watch in great condition, although I confess to having measure it three times as it looks and wears much bigger than 35mm.

The manual winding cal 285 movement performs exactly as it should and keeps accurate time and is covered by our 12 months guarantee.
