Omega Speedmaster 145022.69 SOLD

The speedmaster was a popular choice of watch for many servicemen from different countries and this one it would appear from the case markings on the rear saw its share in the arena of Vietnam, It was common practice in the armed forces for the owner to engrave his name on the case back of his own property along with the date and area they served in and this fascinating piece carries just such an engraving K Carty 1969 /70 Vietnam it would appear that This serviceman bought this piece at the end of his 1970 tour as it is confirmed by the Omega archive docs that the watch was delivered by omega to Japan in Feb 1970

This piece is in great condition with and outstanding dial, near new old stock bezel and the case (which is out of this world) retains its crisp edges and appears to have only ever had the lightest of hand refinishes  and quite simply is one of the nicest I have seen.

The movement as mentioned is an absolutely correct cal 861 with correct 28 million serial number and looks and functions like new.
