The late 1950’s was a time of rapid changes for Rolex with new models announced at a rate unthinkable today. The Rolex 5504 was introduced in 1957 and as such is one of the first true explorers and one of the scarcest references .This original example dates to 1959.
The Original gilt chapter ring dial shows unique patination as expected for a watch of this age .
The 36mm stainless steel case is a size that is still very popular today and comes fitted to a later Rolex jubilee bracelet .
.The case is correctly stamped 5504 with the serial number verifying the correct year as 1959 ,Inside the case back is also stamped 5504 and date stamped 59
Inside the stainless steel case is the highly regarded automatic cal 1530 movement which keeps excellent time.
