The ref 6015 features a distinctive engine turned bezel with fine markings and raised mirror finished five-minute markers as later seen on the Turnograph models although what makes this example stand out is the stunning black dial decorated with gilt minute chapter ring and writing and raised hour markers with Arabic numerals at quarters in the explorer style ,this is the only all original example I have seen of this and it really is a special piece and I can easily forgive the slight spotting on the black surface which is visible is certain light conditions. To give the watch an added element of interest you will see that the case back is engraved with what appears to be a military service number and the previous owners name.
Completely original including the original super oyster non screwed down crown seen only on the very early examples of this reference. The serial number 680XXX dates this piece to 1948.
The watch runs on the early Automatic Tirette chromometer rated movement which keeps great time.
The bubble back gets its name from the deep case back which was needed to accommodate the bulky early automatic movements
With a case size of just 32 mm the bubble back is not a large watch, but they do wear very well and for a vintage Rolex fan a great bubble back is a must in any collection
